WHAT I BELIEVE...

From a kind word, to a quick word, from word of mouth, to the word on the street...

Words connect us, pierce us, empower us and shape us.

Words are how we make sense of ourselves, each other and the world.

In fact, if you look closely, the ‘World’ without ‘word’ is just ‘l’.

And yet every day we read words or hear words that tell us we are more divided and less powerful…

Who our enemies are and who we should really want to be…

Words describing how we are not able enough/ straight enough/ rich enough/ educated enough/ owning enough/ achieving enough…

Well enough is enough.

I believe theatre should use words, bodies, guts and gusto to inspire hope, kindness and give you a ruddy good time.

Theatre should ignite something deep within us that reminds us it feels good to be alive.

Theatre should make us look at society, people and the world at large with humility, generosity and a pinch of salt and maybe even think…

Hang on, they aren’t so unlike me after all”…
